The Greatest Tragedy Of The Lord Of The Rings

The Message On The Mountain

The Lord Of The Rings And Tolkiens Books Were My Dad’s Absolute Favourite. As A Lover Of Literature Myself, I Will Share With You Something I Recently Learned About The Legendary J.R Tolkien. I Always Knew There Were Fantastic Messages In His Books. Yet This Was One Of The Most Pivotal, And Profound. Why Did Tolkien Weap? What Was The Greatest Tragedy?

Why Tolkien Wept, And Why The World Is So Evil Today. It Was The Denial To See The Good In Others, Or The Refusal To Accept Or See Positive Change In Others. People Who Were Once Bad, Or Corrupted. When The Righteous Or Good Become Over Confident About Themselves, And Their Role, They Make No Room Or Allowance For Others To Shine Or Redeem Themselves. We All Have To Take A Turn. Sam Took His Role Very Seriously. That Was Essential. But That Spark Of Ego In Sam Was The Ruin Of Smeagle. Sam Knew He Was The Hero. He Was Fredos Left Hand Man. There Couldn’t Be Another. For Smeagle Was Just A Monster In Sam’s Eyes.

A Test Of Faith

Smeagle Had Made A Single Mistake Which Had Lead Him On That Path To Become That Creature. But There Was Still The Possibility Of Change And Redemption Within Him. The Same Could Be Said Of Adar The Oruk Father Was Once An Elf. He Redeemed Himself With Galadriel Before Dying, And Going In Peace. He Had Promised Peace Between The Elves And Oruks. Leaving The History Behind Them. For The Briefest Moment He Was An Elf Once More. Smeagle Might Have Attained This, Had Sam Given Him The Chance.

Most Evil Is External. Or It Begins With Just One Mistake. We All Make A Mistake Or Two In Our Lifetime. But, When People Condemn Us, Or When We Condemn Ourselves, The Lesson And The Chance Or Potential Dies. We Experience Many Deaths In One Lifetime, Parts Of Ourselves And Our Relationships. Relationships & The Journey Are Ever So Important, Not Just The Results!

The Potential Of Relationship Is Redemption

Relationships Help Us See The Potential Of Others And Ourselves. Sam Caused Smeagle To Give Up And Lose Hope Of Being Good Or Accepted & Human. And So He Lost Faith And Led Them Treacherously Into Shelobs Cave.

Fredo Had Some Understanding And Empathy For What Smeagle Had Endured. Smeagle Also Knew The Burden Of The Ring. Sam Did Not. He Hadn’t Learned The Lessons Yet, Or Learned To Walk In Anothers Shoes.

An Experienced Coach Who Sees Your Potential Will Understand You, And The Task Ahead. Whether You’re Fredo, Smeagle, Gandalf, Or Any Of The Protectors Of The Ring. You Have A Quest And A Destiny If You’re Reading This You’re Probably The Ring Bearer. Temptations & Shortcuts Are Everywhere. But You Have To Focus Harder The Closer You Get.

While This Story Doesn’t Have Much To Do With Launching A Business, I Just Wanted To Highlight The Fact We Sometimes Make Mistakes. Not Only Should We Not Lose Faith In Ourselves, We Must Not Lose Faith In Others. It’s Not Always About Us. There May Be A Partnership, A Team, A Temporary Role. A Part To Play. People Must Learn Forgiveness, Compassion, And Grace. Learn To Listen Or View People As They Truly Are. Pay Attention. It’s A Valuable Lesson In Work And Relationships.

One Might Say Sam Was Weary And In That Moment Being Tested Himself. The Friendship, The Ring, The Journey, Sam Faultered, He Cried, But He Didn’t Give Up On His Friend Or Mission. Even Sam Messed Momentarily Okay. Even Fredo Messed Up. Bilbo. Everyone Makes Mistakes. It’s About How We Choose To Handle After.

Being Hard On Ourselves Or Others Is Unwise Because Potential For Change And Growth Is Instantly Lost. Somehow We Must Find Forgiveness, And See The Goodness & Beauty, Even In The Tired, The Ugly Or The Beastly. One Day That Could Be You, That Could Have Been You.
